A boat going begging ...

David has just come to tell me that, in trying to find out the cost of an annual CRT licence, he has accidentally transferred the ownership of nb Waka Huia to persons unknown.

So if you want a boat, there it is - yours for the taking!

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! And he wonders why I love him - so do I, frankly ...

Fortunately, I have had lots of chardonnay so am feeling little pain.

Now that the chardonnay is hopefully out of your system - what exactly has David done?

I too am intrigued Marilyn? I assumed when I read the title you had decided you would not make it to UK this summer (?) and that you were offering the boat for hire/loan!! How wrong could I be. Take care and stay safe. Jennie xx

Jennie and Carol,

We are not coming to the UK this year - as you would expect. We are disappointed but better safe than sorry. And with the travel restrictions in place, getting there and possibly back would be fraught.

Our son who lives in Bury, Manchester, has lost his job because of COVID-19, so we have offered him and his partner the boat to live on until we come over in 2021 if they want it. So David was checking the cost of the CRT licence and the insurance cost so they would know what they were up for. Somehow he could only find out the cost by applying for a licence rather than just being able to look it up (he HAD been drinking rose ...) and somehow in that process he managed to change the ownership - to himself as it turned out instead of me ...

He sobered up and called them later in the evening (UK morning) and rectified it, so it is MY boat again!!

All good, but we are living in scary times, aren't we?

Be safe, people.

Mxx

It is not great surprise that you are not coming, Marilyn. Sorry to hear that your son and his partner have lost their jobs - they are lucky you can offer them accommodation for as long as they need it. I do feel for all those people who are now out of work and wondering how they will feed themselves and their families. We are indeed living in a scary time.

Stay well and stay safe. Jennie and Chris

By crackey you two do make me laugh!!! Glad it's all sorted out and some stranger isn't turning somersaults over discovering they are the new owner of a narrow boat!I am also grieved to hear your son and his partner lost their employment. They are blessed indeed to have Waka Huia to live on. She's a braw boat.
Stay safe, stay well.
